MacBook, iPhone, action cameras… What gear for creating content while traveling?

Beyond choosing the right devices (which we cover in our Nomad Setup article), staying productive on the road is mostly about good digital organization.

☁️ Backup and storage

Losing your photos/videos or your laptop on the road isn’t an option. Simple rule: the 3-2-1 rule - 3 copies of your files, on 2 different media, with 1 off-site (cloud). We systematically sync to a cloud (Google Drive, iCloud or similar) as soon as we have decent wifi.

🗂️ Organization tools

• Notion or Google Docs to centralize article ideas, budgets, to-do lists
• Offline Google Maps for every destination (download the map BEFORE arriving, connection isn’t always guaranteed)
• A password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password…) - essential with all the accounts you juggle while traveling

🔌 The small gear that changes everything

• Universal power strip/adapter with built-in USB-C ports
• 20,000mAh+ power bank for long filming/work days
• External SSD for physical backups on top of the cloud

💰 Investment

€2500-4000 all-in (gear + cloud/tool subscriptions over the year). It can seem high, but it’s an investment that lasts several years of travel if the gear is well maintained.
